Dr. Julian Eaton
Senior Mental Health Advisor
Julian Eaton, a British psychiatrist, is Senior Mental Health Advisor for CBM. His work involves engaging with Governments and other service providers to strengthen health systems and improve access to mental health care. He also focuses on promoting CBM’s broader priority of working for an inclusive society where people with disabilities are empowered to participate in processes of policy and legislation development, as well as practical aspects of their implementation. CBM aim to promote meaningful application of evidence-based practice, and Julian has published on issues relating to mental health care in low income countries. This includes how people with different disabilities, including those resulting from NTDs, can engage fully in society and address issues like stigma and discrimination.
Julian is based in West Africa, initially in Nigeria, and more recently in Lomé, Togo, where CBM’s West Africa Regional Office is located. In 2015 he embarked upon a PhD at LSHTM on scaling up mental health services in low income settings.
